All online ACH payments require the associated bank account to be validated prior to being processed on Exact's PayFac platform. This is a NACHA rule (the organization that administers the ACH network) and is referenced here. Exact Payments partners with an ACH NACHA certified service called Dwolla to enforce NACHA guidelines.
Exact has two methods of validating bank accounts used for ACH payments:
To whom does this apply?
Partners
Merchants
Customers
How often is an account validated?
Partners and Merchants
Bank accounts are validated at the time of onboarding
When a bank change is submitted
If an account is dormant for more than six months.
Customers
When the Payment Method is added. If the payment is recurring, the account only needs to be validated once.
Should an ACH transaction fail due to the account being closed, blocked, or insufficient funds, the original bank may need to be revalidated.
Bank changes will require validation following the same procedure.
